family

What a busy weekend we had.  It was my Grandmom's 85th Birthday!  It started Friday night and ended Sunday night.  Friday night EVERYONE came over and spent the night. That way early Saturday morning we could get started on the food :)  It started with a delicious breakfast buffet. Nico Loved waking up to his family here. He wasted no time playing, eating, and just hanging out with the big kids!

After breakfast, we baked bread, then the main meal. We made lasagna.  Not as easy as you would think. We make it from scratch. Rolling meatballs, cooking them in sauce, making the noodled, making the cheese mix, to smashing the meat and putting it all together to bake.  It takes a few hours, but it is what Grandmom or as Nico says, "Mamom" wanted.

After dinner it was relax time. Kids playing, grown ups watching movies and joking around while the cake was baking in the oven.  Grandmom wanted a strawberry shortcake, which means, french vanilla cake, homemade whipped cream, and strawberries sliced with LOTS of sugar. MMMMmmmm!

Then Sunday, Oktoberfest!  We went to the German festival and had a ball.  Good food and drinks, Lots of rides and games. Best of all, another day with family :) Nico rode the rides for the first time and loved it.  He did not want to get off of them.  He also playing basketball and won a monkey. He was so proud!  It is always great to be with family. There is nothing in the world that makes me happier than Nico knowing who they are and going back to the good ol' days that I remember. Lots of noise, food, happiness, and love. It is exactly what I needed.
